Have you ever found yourself eating when you’re not hungry? Do you eat when you are bored? Lonely? Sad? Tired? Frustrated? Happy? Or just because food is around? Out of habit? Maybe you believe you love food more than others. Your eating and weight are out of your control, but you feel stuck. You have a choice. You can pretend you are happy with a body you do not love and just put on makeup and accept it or you can make a POWER MOVE and OVERCOME IT.

If you are overweight, overfed, overworked, overstressed, over-it-all, and feeling powerless over eating, food, and hunger, I get it. The truth is: It’s Not About the Food; It’s About the Story Behind the Food!

There is a reason that you can’t seem to get a handle on this “food thing” and have a tough time – maybe find it impossible to stick to a diet plan.

  • You think it’s willpower, but it’s not.

  • You think it’s self-control, but it’s not.

  • You think it’s self-discipline, but it’s not.

  • You think it’s hunger, but it’s not.

  • You feel like a failure, BUT YOU ARE NOT.

The reason is your belief system around food, eating, and hunger. Your belief system determines:

  • What you eat

  • How much you eat

  • Why you eat

The truth is you have the power to change your belief system, but first, you must know what it is. Translation: You have the power to overcome your Food Stories, but first you must know what they are.

In this workshop, you will learn simple but powerful ways of:

  • Sitting in the moment rather than eating in the moment

  • Interrupting old patterns of eating for entertainment, pleasure, and comfort

  • Determining the difference between the desire to eat and true hunger

  • Tapping into your individual creativity and imagination for lasting weight loss

What’s the secret to losing weight? More importantly, What’s the secret to losing it and keeping it off for good?

Those are the million-dollar questions that a 160 billion-dollar – and growing – weight loss industry is betting that you will answer incorrectly. Their success is rooted in your failure. They will tell you that the answer is in counting carbs, calories, macros, and crunches. They will say try this medical procedure, this plan, this program, this pill. Some will say freeze it off, melt it off, wrap it off! I know this firsthand because for 40 years I tried it all. Despite my continued failure, I knew deep down I deserved a body that I could be proud of. If you have that desire burning deep within you, keep reading. Don’t ever lose hope. But do something Brand New!

Listen, I Get it

For decades, I had it all wrong.

I first started dieting in 1977. I was morbidly obese for most of my adult life. Over the past 42 years, I have lost and gained at least 700 pounds. This means I am a recovering, compulsive overeater and yo-yo dieter; it also means I am an authority on losing weight. Cabbage soup, low carb, no carb, low fat, no fat, protein bars, cookies, powders, and shakes –- tried ‘em all! I’ve spent thousands and thousands of dollars on countless diet doctors, diet pills, diet plans, diet programs, diet videos, diet cookies, diet groups, psychotherapy - even surgery, to quiet the battle between my mind, body, and hunger.  My desperation grew as every new hope was vanquished. The situation was so bad; I didn’t even own a full-length mirror; I avoided taking pictures unless they were headshots. And I certainly wasn’t getting on a scale.  I wondered if I needed to just give up and settle for a body I could never love or be proud of.

And then in September 2018 at 60 years old, something in me said you owe it to yourself to try one more time.  Listening to that inner voice led me to the truth about my weight and how I mismanaged food. It led me to mind-shifting understanding and clarity. The diet industry kept me focused on just trying to change my behavior – what I was eating and how much.  On diets, I always felt deprived and unsatisfied. Then, I discovered the secret that led to a seismic shift in my thinking. I looked right when they wanted me to keep looking left. I became hyper-focused on changing my beliefs about food, finding the “real why” of-the-why–of-the-why behind my eating.  That’s three whys! Count ‘em. This is likely a completely different approach from anything you have heard.

In this workshop, you will learn to change the beliefs about food that are keeping you stuck in an unhealthy and unattractive body.  Your body will change when your behavior changes; Your behavior will change when your beliefs change. Your beliefs will change when you start asking the right questions, the hard questions, sitting with the discomfort and comfort of the answers, and using those answers as a catalyst to rewrite the false narratives you believe about food eating, and hunger.

The answers to why you eat what you eat are your Food Stories. They contain your food truths.

This hands-on-heart-on, ninety-minute workshop takes you on a deep dive through food truths that will lead to lasting weight loss success for you. I teach you to get to your food truths so you can get a handle on:

  • Yo-Yo Dieting

  • Stress Eating

  • Emotional Overeating

  • Sugar Addiction

  • Craving and Bingeing

Almost every diet plan says to write, journal, and keep track of your thoughts and feelings. They do not teach you to do this in a meaningful way. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP. IT IS THE SECRET THAT IS MARGINALIZED THAT IS OVERLOOKED THAT SAVED MY LIFE AND WILL SAVE YOURS, TOO.  Writing in the right way makes it easier to follow a diet and exercise plan and maintain weight in a body that brings you joy!

Join me in this workshop and I will teach you step by step how to use writing about your Food Stories to change what you believe about food, yourself, and others. This workshop is not for everyone. It’s for you if you are ready to start your transformation.

Don’t let the old Food Stories you need to rewrite stand between you and the body and life you deserve!

Meet Michelle Petties

For years Michelle Petties worked in a fast-paced, high-pressure corporate world, as a top performer for the most influential brands in media, from Radio One and Disney/ABC to NPR/PBS member stations. Finally, the highly stressful and competitive media and advertising space took its toll on her mental and physical health. Looking at her today, you would never guess that she used to be morbidly obese, once tipping the scale at 260 plus pounds. After gaining and losing over seven hundred pounds, Michelle finally discovered the “secret” to winning the battle between her mind, body, and food – her “story.”
